Family Friendly Salmon Pasta

I know how hard it can be to find healthy meals that will please the whole family and are also quick and easy to prepare. This Salmon and Broccoli Pasta ticks all the boxes. With salmon for protein and omega-3s, pasta for carbohydrate and broccoli for a whole host of nutrients including vitamin C and iron, it is a great balanced meal.

This Dish Is Great For Baby Led Weaning

I served this dish to my baby during weaning with great success. If you want to make it suitable for baby, make sure to omit any salt (you can always add to serve once you have dished up baby’s portion.)

You may wish to mash or chop some elements based on baby’s current skills, and vegetables can been cooked a little extra so they are soft enough. I really recommend checking out Solid Starts for more information on serving solids to your baby.

Ingredients and Substitutions

These are some helpful notes about the main ingredients. See the full ingredients list with quantities in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

Salmon – In the recipe I use two 120 gram (4oz) fillets cooked in the air fryer. The salmon can also be pan fried or oven baked if preferred. Alternatively you can use smoked salmon, hot smoked salmon flakes, tinned or pre-cooked salmon fillets.

Broccoli – cut the florets large or small depending on your preference and who you are serving. For picky eaters try really finely chopped broccoli which will melt into the sauce. You can use fresh or frozen broccoli, or tenderstem (Broccolini).

Cream Cheese (Soft Cheese) – I love Philadelphia. You can try a flavoured cream cheese like Boursin. Use a dairy free cream cheese if you need to.

Lemon Juice, garlic and parsley – I use dried herbs and garlic granules or garlic powder for ease, but you can use fresh if you prefer.

Pasta – I like rigatoni but most pasta shapes work well for this recipe, so go with your favourite.

Serving Suggestions and Variations

You can serve salmon pasta as a complete meal or, like most pasta dishes, it goes great with some garlic bread or salad on the side.

Swap out the broccoli for another green vegetable like peas, sugar snap peas or asparagus. Or use two vegetables for more variety.

Instead of salmon, try this creamy pasta with trout, prawns (shrimp) or tinned tuna.

For a vegetarian version, add some peas and replace the salmon with white beans.

Try some different herbs – dill or chives work well.

This recipe is intended to make two adult and one or two child portions (depending on age). Use your own judgement if you need to increase the amount of pasta etc or you can use the slider on the recipe card to adjust ingredients by portion size.

Serving and Storing

Salmon Broccoli Pasta is best served freshly cooked, but leftovers can be kept in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Reheat on the stove or in the microwave until piping hot – a splash of water will help to loosen the sauce.

I do not recommend freezing salmon pasta.
