Baked Boursin and Tomato Pasta is an even better version of viral Baked Feta Pasta. The creamy, garlicky Boursin cheese melts perfectly into sweet cherry tomatoes to create a delicious and silky pasta sauce that is just oh-so-moreish. An easy and fuss-free midweek meal with so many possibilities for customisation to suit the whole household. You NEED this in your meal plan repertoire.
If you don’t count the pot used to cook the pasta, then technically baked Boursin Pasta is a proper dump-and-go one pot meal. All the ingredients for the creamy Boursin tomato pasta sauce go in one dish and get baked in the oven, so it is also a very hands-off dinner. I love this creamy cheese and tomato pasta as a speedy mid-week meal. Not only is it easy to customise depending on what extra veggies you have lurking in the fridge, but it makes insanely good leftovers.
Easy Baked Boursin Pasta
If you are aware of the viral Baked Feta Pasta made famous on TikTok, then this tomato and Boursin pasta recipe might look a little familiar. I use a ball of creamy garlic and herbs Boursin cheese instead of a block of feta.
But why swap feta cheese for Boursin? Don’t get me wrong, I love feta cheese and baked feta pasta is divine, but sometimes it does make me sad to use a whole block of deliciously crumbly feta cheese like that. The soft Boursin cheese makes a lighter and creamier sauce for pasta. And unlike feta, which can be a polarising flavour for some, Boursin is rich and creamy rather than tangy and salty.
Garlic and Herbs Boursin is my favourite to use in this pasta recipe, but there are other flavours you can try depending on your tastes.
Ingredients
- Boursin Cheese – Garlic and Herb is best, but feel free to use your favourite flavour.
- Tinned Cherry Tomatoes – I like to use tinned cherry tomatoes in Boursin Pasta. I find they break down quicker making the dish saucier than fresh cherry tomatoes as well as reducing the cooking time. Plus a tin of tomatoes works out cheaper in most cases than good-quality fresh tomatoes, and has more flavour than the cheap ones. You can absolutely use fresh cherry tomatoes if you prefer, or even a mix of both. If you can’t get hold of tinned cherry tomatoes then good quality chopped tomatoes work well.
- Pasta – A short shape like cavatappi, rigatoni or penne works best for Boursin pasta.
- Red Onion – thinly sliced, or you can use shallot.
- Red Pepper – optional, but the additional sweetness of red pepper really compliments the garlicy cheese.
- Fresh Basil – you can also use chives or parsley.
How to Make Boursin Tomato Pasta
Place the whole, unwrapped Boursin cheese in a large overproof baking dish. I like to use this oval Le Creuset dish. Scatter the chopped onion and peppers around the cheese, then pour over the tin of cherry tomatoes. Sprinkle with a dash of salt and pepper, plus a drizzle of olive oil.
Bake the cheese and tomatoes for about 20 minutes at 200c/400f until the tomatoes are beginning to burst and the cheese is golden and melty. Mix everything together to create a creamy tomato and cheese sauce. Then stir through cooked pasta and fresh chopped herbs.
Serving and Storing
I like to serve a simple and fresh green salad or this white bean salad alongside my baked Boursin pasta.
You can add some additional protein to Boursin pasta by stirring in some cooked chicken, ham or sausage. Or serve as a side to steak, pork chops or grilled chicken breast.
Stir in some spinach or kale with the pasta for extra greens.
Swap the peppers for another vegetable like sliced courgette or mushrooms. Or try Boursin Pasta with Butternut Squash similar to this recipe but with Boursin replacing the feta. Try playing around with different vegetable combinations and Boursin flavours.
I hope you like this recipe as much as I do!
