Celebrate the festive season with this delicious (and easy) Almond Sparkler Mocktail. Inspired by a mimosa, this non-alcoholic treat has orange juice with a hint of almond and a touch of sparkle.

The festive season is approaching, work is finishing up for the year and all the presents are (almost) wrapped and ready under the tree. This is usually the time of year when I would be enjoying my favourite festive cocktail, an Amarreto Orange Margarita, in front of a Christmas Movie. But Iโ€™m currently pregnant, so tequila is out of the question for me this year. I wanted to come up with a non-alcoholic drink which still had that delicious almond and orange flavour combination I have come to associate with Christmas. And so, the Almond Sparkler mocktail was born!

Non Alcoholic Mimosa

Inspired by a traditional mimosa cocktail (made from fresh orange juice topped with champagne), the Almond sparkler is super simple to make. Simply combine orange juice, almond extract and non-alcoholic sparkling wine in a champagne flute and garnish with a glacé cherry.

I love the subtle warmth the almond adds to the orange, and the sparkle from the 0% wine makes it feel like a real celebration drink. This non-alcoholic mimosa is a great option for New Yearโ€™s Eve Parties as well โ€“ Iโ€™ll definitely be drinking one to bring in the bells this Hogmanay.

Non Alcoholic Sparkling Wine

I use non-alcoholic sparkling wine in my Almond Sparkler, but lemonade or sparkling apple juice also work well, especially if you like a sweeter drink. My husband (who has a massive sweet tooth) loves it with Appletiser.

Most supermarkets now do their own 0% sparkling, but I have to particularly recommend both Sainsburyโ€™s and Aldiโ€™s own version and Asdaโ€™s sparkling low alcohol sauvignon (though beware this is <0.5% alcohol). As for branded non-alcoholic sparkling wine, Freixenet is my all-time favourite and is regularly on offer in my local supermarket. Belle & Co and Nozeco are also a great shout.

You can also use sparkling water or a lemon & lime flavoured soda water for these Almond and Orange Sparkling mocktails if you prefer.
